Topic: Improvement of Algorithm in the Particle Tracking Velocimetry
Prof. Dr. Sashidhar Ram Joshi,
Head of the Department of Electronics and Computer Engineering,
Institute of Engineering, Pulchowk Campus, Nepal
Abstract: The neural network techniques are becoming a useful tool forthe particle tracking algorithm of the PIV system software and amongothers, the self-organizing maps (SOM) model seems to have turned outparticularly effective for this purpose. This is mainly because of theperformance of the particle tracking itself, capacity of dealing withunpaired particles between two frames and no necessity for a prioriknowledge on the flow field (e.g. maximum flow rate) to be measured.Initially, concept of SOM was applied to PIV by Labonte. It wasmodified by Ohmi and further modified algorithm is developed using theconcept of Delta-Bar-Delt rule. It is a heuristic algorithm formodifying the learning rate as training progresses. Earlier, thetreatment of unpaired particles, a specific problem to any type ofPIV, is not fully considered and thereby, the tracking goesunsuccessfully for some particles. The present research is to bringabout further improvement and practicability in this promisingparticle tracking algorithm. The computational complexity can bereduced employing modified algorithm compared to other algorithms. Themodified algorithm is tested in the light of the synthetic PIVstandard image as well as in particle images obtained fromvisualization experiments.

Topic: Privacy and Security Issues in current Computing Paradigms: A Global Perspective
Dr. Durgesh Kumar Mishra
Professor (CSE) and Dean (R&D),
Sri Aurobindo Institute of Technology, Indore, MP, India,
Visiting Professor IIT Indore.

Past Chairman IEEE Computer Society, Bombay Chapter,
Abstract: Information technology together with communication technology has revolutionized the globe. Novel paradigms like cloud computing and mobile computing paradigms like wireless sensor network and mobile ad hoc network make many new applications possible and more convenient. But new issues like privacy and security are also becoming matter of concern. We observe the events of misuse of private information and e-frauds. These paradigms will have a great impact on the business, government and everyday life of people. For example, cloud computing will change the way software are sold and used. Now the software will be sold as “service” instead of “product”. Expensive software will be in the reach of common people. The revenue collection of the corporate and the government will increase. But privacy of end users data is a great concern as it resides on the data centre of the cloud provider. Wireless sensor network will have a great impact on the agricultural research and the monitoring if the national boundary. But physical deployment and the security is a challenge. Mobile ad hoc network can be used in the disaster management but limited battery life and lower network coverage is hurdle.
